The Backlash Arrives on Schedule

Industry analysts are divided on whether functional sizing becomes a genuine trend or a brief, alarming detour before fashion corrects course and returns to its natural state of beautiful, unwearable nonsense.

What seems clear is that Corpus Verum has, accidentally or deliberately, done something the inclusivity industrial complex spent a decade carefully avoiding: made the abstract concrete. The clothes exist. In sizes. On a rack. Ready to be worn by a human woman who ate breakfast.

Whether that constitutes a revolution or merely a very good season remains to be seen.

For now, the sample-size mannequins remain on standby. The press releases about journeys and commitments are pre-drafted. The gap between the runway and the real world is, as always, being carefully maintained.

But somewhere in SoHo, a zipper went all the way up on the first try.

And fashion will never fully forgive it.
